Project: The Last Note is a game project I worked on with a group of friends and classmates for Global Game Jam 2017. The theme of the Game Jam was "Wave" and so we went with the idea of waves of sound. This was my second game jam, and I had a great time both incorporating knowledge from my previous game jam and having a good comparison of how much I have improved since the previous year.
My Role: My main task was working with technical art such as particles and certain materials. I made a few particles, some of which didn't make it into the game due to time crunch, which added to environmental set dressing, and I set up basic blueprint scripting functionality alongside one of our game's programmers. Together, I was able to explain how the material transitions worked and how it needed to be set up and he showed me where it needed to go and we successfully figured out how to get the materials to work under specific conditions.
Platforms: MS Windows, Mac OS X
Technology Notes: Unreal Engine 4.14.1, Maya 2016.5 & 2017, Adobe Photoshop CC, Headus UVLayout Pro, Adobe After Effects CC

While this version of this material didn't make it into the final game, this material transition set up was used for other materials like the player getting hit material transition for player feedback

Particles: These particles were intended to give feedback for certain events such as player character death (ink blot burst) and music note crashing (rocks falling) but were ultimately cut for time.
Materials: These materials were intended to either set dress the scene or accompany a game mechanic that would involve combining notes to make other colors based on their former colors. This game mechanic was scrapped due to its complexity, which could not properly be fleshed out in such a short amount of time.
